UNPARALLELED EXPERTISE AND RECORD OF SUCCESS

"Dr. Hansen and his team launched a comprehensive and ambitious public-private collaborative economic development program TOBASCO EN ACCION to stimulate economic activity and job growth in the state.  The results of the leadership and cluster process of Tabasco in Action have resulted in the formation of new companies, new jobs in aquaculture, light industry, agricultural processing, a reorientation of cacao production to organic markets, and the beginning of a whole new mindset shift from -- "the government has to solve our problems" -- to -- "we can do it!" -Tomas Yanez Burelo, Secretary of Economic Development in the State of Tabasco, Mexico

Pioneers of Clustering and Sustainable Design

With over 20 years of hands-on experience around the globe, Economic Transformations Group brings together leaders from business, government, education, and community to define effective strategies and to take specific actions to achieve sustainability and real prosperity.

Dr. Eric Hansen, President of ETG, initially studied and developed the economics of clustering while at MIT and the World Bank during the late 1970s. He further developed and applied clustering approaches while at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) during the 1980s and 1990s. “Cluster-based Economic Development” is now recognized internationally as the most effective way to grow new economies and to revitalize existing economies.

ETG has led the field with hands on experience in regional economic development, urban planning, innovation, and sustainable business practices. From Silicon Valley to Slovenia and from Morocco to Mexico, ETG has succeeded in inspiring, forming, and supporting action teams of business, government and community leaders to develop and implement strategies for sustainable and competitive economic growth. ETG's networked team of consultants includes experienced economists, management consultants, implementation specialists, and systems and institutions designers.  All of ETG's affiliates are committed to the principles of sustainability.

Clustering: The Hottest New Approach in Economic Development

Economic clustering has emerged over the past 15 years as the most effective way to grow new economies and to revitalize existing economies. In the simplest terms, clusters are geographic concentrations of interrelated companies and institutions that comprise a particular field of linked industries.  When cluster industries and institutions are proactively interacting, communicating, collaborating, and competing, the entire regional economy becomes more dynamic and successful in responding to opportunities for growth and change both locally and globally. Cluster analysis and development --"clustering"--provides the most effective and reliable way to achieve holistic, sustainable growth in the localities and regions. Successful cluster development has been proven to result in spontaneous, self-sustaining growth.
